A rooted, potted viminalis willow ready for you to plant in your garden.
Salix viminalis is grown here at Cherry Tree Willow without the use of chemicals.
Name: Salix viminalis
Height: approx 3m [10 - 12ft] per year. If left uncoppiced may reach a height of 10m [30ft].
Soil Type: moist, well drained and moderately fertile. Willow will not thrive in sandy, chalky, free draining soils.
Aspect: full sun
Planting: plant as soon as possible. Keep moist in the pot at all times until planting.
Hardiness: fully hardy
Foliage: deciduous green narrow oval leaves. Green stem.
Catkins: appear in early spring if stems have not been cut back..
Uses: living willow structures, plant supports, wind breaks, strengthening river banks, hedges, bio fuel logs, wreath making etc as well as useful tasty fodder for sheep.
Maintenance: coppice - cut stems right back in the winter after leaf fall.
Supplied in a 1ltr, recyclable pot of peat free compost.
Cherry Tree Willow is registered with, and inspected by, the Animal and Plant Health Agency [APHA] and all living willows are issued with plant passports.
